Iran Urges Stronger OIC Role in Addressing Regional Crises

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take a more active and influential role in addressing regional crises, especially the ongoing war in Gaza.
During a meeting on Monday with Mohammad Hassan Sheikholeslami, Iran’s newly appointed ambassador and permanent representative to the OIC, Araghchi emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among Muslim nations to safeguard the interests of the Islamic world and effectively confront common challenges.
The Foreign Minister drew attention to what he described as the ongoing genocide in Gaza and Israeli aggression against countries in the region, stressing that such issues demand collective and coordinated action from the Islamic community.
Ambassador Sheikholeslami, for his part, outlined his plans to leverage the OIC’s capacity to promote greater unity and solidarity among member states, before departing to assume his new post.
Sheikholeslami has previously held several key positions, including Deputy Foreign Minister, Head of the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS), and President of the Foreign Ministry’s School of International Relations.
