Iranian Lawmakers Meet with Ayatollah Khamenei Following Election of Parliament Speaker

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: In keeping with an annual tradition following the election of the Parliament’s speaker, members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, on Wednesday.

The meeting came after the recent internal vote to elect the speaker of the Iranian Parliament for the new legislative term. Three candidates—Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Ali Nikzad, and Hamid-Reza Haji-Babaei—contested for the position.

Qalibaf was re-elected as Speaker of Parliament after securing 219 votes, maintaining his leadership role in the legislative body.

The audience with Ayatollah Khamenei reaffirms the close relationship between the legislative institution and the Supreme Leader’s guidance, underscoring the importance of unity and cooperation among state bodies in the Islamic Republic.
