Manama, The Gulf Observer: Bahrain TV today organised a national campaign themed “Day of Solidarity with Our People in Gaza… We Are with You”, in cooperation with the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) and the National Committee for Supporting the Palestinians in Gaza.
Held following the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, RHF Honorary President, the telethon is organised under the auspices of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs.
HM King Hamad donated $8.5 million, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, contributed BD 500,000 to the campaign.
On the occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad extended deepest thanks and gratitude to HM the King for HM’s humanitarian initiatives towards the brotherly Palestinians, reflecting the kingdom’s unequivocal, firm stance in support of the just Palestinian cause, and the HM’s great love for the Palestinian people.
His Highness praised the great support accorded to the RHF and the National Committee for Supporting the Palestinians in Gaza by the government, led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, affirming Bahrain’s standing with the Palestinian people in the midst of their humanitarian plight, and keenness to alleviate the suffering of the victims’ families, based on the human duty required by the teachings of the Islamic religions, the authentic Arab traditions and the distinguished Bahraini-Palestinian relations.
HH Shaikh Nasser asserted that the national campaign reflects the firm stance of Bahrain’s leadership, government and people towards brotherly and friendly peoples during crises and humanitarian circumstances, affirming HM the King’s keenness to extend a helping hand to the needy, based on the human bonds between Bahrain and various peoples.
His Highness asserted that the Bahraini citizens have set the best example by answering the call of human duty in solidarity with the Palestinians, citing their massive, kind contributions to the national campaign to help the Palestinians in Gaza.
HH Shaikh Nasser called on all institutions, companies, citizens and residents to contribute to the noble humanitarian campaign aimed at providing relief aid to the afflicted brothers in their ordeal and extending a helping hand to them in order to alleviate their suffering.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad had donated BD 100,000 to the campaign, becoming the first to contribute to the initiative, in response to HM the King’s directives.
Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed, RHF Secretary-General and CEO of the National Committee for Supporting the Palestinians in Gaza, praised HM the King’s directives to help and provide relief aid to the Palestinians.
He indicated that the support of the government, led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the RHF and the National Committee for Supporting the Palestinians in Gaza, has ensured the success of the national campaign.
He paid tribute to HH Shaikh Nasser for his directives to set up the National Committee for Supporting the Palestinians in Gaza in order to unify national efforts to support the Palestinians in light of the painful ordeal to which they are exposed as a result of the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the difficult humanitarian conditions they are experiencing.
Al Sayed unveiled that more than $16 million have been collected during today’s telethon, expressing thanks to all donors, and affirming that preparations are in full swing to deliver humanitarian and relief aid to the Palestinians as soon as possible.
He also said that donations can still be made through the official channels announced by the RHF.
Taha Abdul Qader, Palestinian Ambassador to Bahrain, valued highly HM the King’s directives to support the Palestinian people under various circumstances, reflecting the firm supportive stance of the kingdom towards the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people.
He affirmed that the Palestinian people and its leadership, led by President Mahmood Abbas, appreciate the directives of HM the King and the government, as well as the Bahraini people’s solidarity with the Palestinian people.
During the telethon, Bahrain TV hosted a number of national figures, scholars, intellectuals and businessmen, including Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed, Shaikh Adnan Al Qattan, Shaikh Abdullatif Al Mahmood, Shaikh Habib Al Namliti, Yousif Saleh Al Saleh, Waleed Kanoo, Jawad Al Hawaj, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawaheri, journalist Mahmeed Al Mahmeed, Abdulkarim Al Khayyat, Dr. Waleed Al Manea, Salman Mhanna Al Dossari, Ambassador Taha Abdul Qader and Dr. Abdulla Al Hawaj.
The guests stressed the importance of contributing to the national campaign aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
