Myanmar Prioritizes Smooth Export Process and Vessel Berthing Efficiency

Yangon, The Gulf Observer: Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister of Myanmar, emphasized the need for efficient vessel berthing and seamless export processes during an inspection tour of Asia World Port Terminal (AWPT) in Ahlon Township, Yangon Region, yesterday. Accompanied by Council Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, council members, the Chief Minister of Yangon Region, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, and the Commander of Yangon Command, the Senior General highlighted strategic measures to bolster trade and export operations.
During his visit to the three-storey building at the AWPT jetty, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing stated that the Myanma Port Authority must carefully consider the berthing of vessels based on their sizes at relevant ports. He also noted the importance of assessing potential driving restrictions for vessels following the completion of the Myanmar-Korea Friendship Bridge (Dala).
Addressing the facilitation of exports, the Senior General stressed that the government does not impose restrictions on the export of agricultural and livestock products. He urged officials at various levels to prioritize a smooth and swift export process to enhance trade efficiency.
The Senior General acknowledged the economic challenges posed by international sanctions and called on businesspersons to increase the production of marketable export items, particularly agricultural products. He stressed the importance of boosting the export of foodstuffs, quality rubber, coffee, and value-added agricultural products while expanding the sown acreage of key crops.
Furthermore, he emphasized the significance of meeting per-acre yield targets to increase export volume and advocated for enhanced oil crop production to reduce reliance on imported cooking oil. The Senior General also highlighted the need for developing value-added maize products, which would contribute to the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
The inspection tour at AWPT underscored Myanmar’s commitment to promoting efficient port operations and fostering sustainable export growth, particularly in the agriculture and livestock sectors.
