Omans “Najma Marches” Youth Company Garners Accolades for Innovative Technical Solutions
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: In a commendable achievement, “Najma Marches” Youth Company has earned multiple awards for its impactful contributions in delivering innovative technical solutions. Saeed bin Abdul Ghafoor Al Balushi, the company’s CEO, emphasized their commitment to research and development, aiming to propel technological advancements within the Sultanate of Oman and position it as a global technology hub.
Al Balushi highlighted the company’s state-of-the-art manufacturing unit in the Otab region, situated within the Sohar Production Incubators for Manufacturing Industries affiliated with Sohar University. The unit serves as a primary research center, solidifying the company’s dedication to technological progress.
Among the notable awards received, the “Sweeping” project claimed the top spot in the Oman Airports Ideas Competition. This groundbreaking initiative employs robots to clean airport runways, addressing tire debris and plankton, thus contributing to environmental preservation.
Furthermore, “Najma Marches” secured first place in the “Entrepreneurial Ideas Race” organized by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority. The winning solution tackled water salinity issues in some of Nama’s stations, showcasing the company’s innovative problem-solving capabilities.
The company’s triumph continued on the international stage, winning the “Pioneer Gulf Hackathon 2023” in Qatar with the “Vega” project. This project focuses on utilizing drones with an artificial intelligence system for early detection of the red palm weevil, demonstrating the company’s global competitiveness.
Al Balushi shared that the company successfully implemented eight projects in collaboration with governmental and private entities. Notable projects include drone-assisted spraying covering a total area of 16 thousand acres, addressing challenges like palm tree dubas, nargile beetle, and whiteflies. Cooperation with the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources and private farms across Oman showcased the company’s commitment to impactful partnerships.
In a significant stride towards sustainability, the company converted a hybrid gasoline agricultural drone to fully electric. Additionally, Sohar witnessed the production of the first Omani drone, and the company collaborated with space photography specialists to document vegetation and wild trees across the Sultanate.
