Oman’s Pavilion Unveiled at ITB Berlin Convention
Berlin, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman’s pavilion at ITB Berlin 2024 was inaugurated on Tuesday, featuring the participation of approximately 70 companies, tourism entities, and hotel establishments. The pavilion serves as a comprehensive showcase of Oman’s diverse tourism attractions across various governorates and highlights the services provided by travel and tourism companies to inbound visitors.
The opening ceremony, held under the auspices of Kai Wenger, Mayor of Berlin, welcomed Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, Azzan Qassim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, Maitha Saif Al Mahrouqi, Oman’s Ambassador to Germany, and several German officials.
The Omani pavilion at ITB Berlin offers a platform for Oman to explore investment opportunities within the tourism sector. Exhibitors have dedicated galleries within the pavilion to showcase adventure tourism, Omani culinary arts, and related products from small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Minister Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi anticipates a notable increase in the number of tourists visiting Oman from the German market, estimating a potential rise of 15-20%. He highlighted the appeal of the programs offered by the Ministry, in collaboration with tourism sector partners, catering to various segments of visitors exploring Oman.
Maitha Al Mahrouqi echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that Oman’s exceptional tourism attractions and services consistently attract regular visits from European countries, particularly the Republic of Germany.
Sheikh Ayman Ahmed Al Hosni, CEO of Oman Airports, expressed the company’s ambition to attract more international airlines to Oman. He outlined various measures, including meetings with representatives of partner firms participating in ITB Berlin, aimed at promoting Oman as a preferred destination.
The Sultanate’s strong presence at ITB Berlin underlines its commitment to promoting tourism, attracting investment, and showcasing the unique cultural and natural treasures that make Oman a distinctive destination on the global tourism map.
