President Emomali Rahmon, Zhao Leji Discuss Strengthening Tajikistan-China Parliamentary Cooperation

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, met with Zhao Leji in Beijing to discuss the further expansion of bilateral parliamentary and strategic cooperation between Tajikistan and China.

During the meeting, President Rahmon described parliamentary diplomacy as “one of the effective means of strengthening and expanding political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation” between the two countries.

“We support the fruitful continuation of inter-parliamentary relations in accordance with the common interests of the two countries,” the Tajik leader stated.

The two sides emphasized that the development and expansion of inter-parliamentary ties serve as a solid foundation for the comprehensive strategic partnership between Tajikistan and China in the new era.

President Rahmon also welcomed the establishment and launch of the Tajikistan-China Inter-Parliamentary Commission, whose first meeting was held in Beijing in November 2025, describing it as an important step toward deepening institutional cooperation between the legislative bodies of both nations.

The discussions further focused on the exchange of experience in parliamentary activities, including legislative reforms and adapting legal frameworks to modern requirements.

Both sides also explored cooperation in innovation, implementation of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, transition to green energy and sustainable industry, as well as strengthening cultural and humanitarian exchanges and other areas of mutual interest.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Tajikistan and China to enhancing bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors under their growing strategic partnership.
