President Mirziyoyev Identifies Priority Areas of Cooperation with Oman
Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev, welcomed the esteemed Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, on 2nd May. Minister Al Yousef’s visit to Uzbekistan was in conjunction with his participation in the Third Tashkent International Investment Forum, symbolizing the growing ties between the two nations.
During the meeting, Minister Al Yousef conveyed sincere regards from His Majesty the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, to President Mirziyoyev, reaffirming the commitment of Oman to strengthening bilateral relations.
Discussions centered on enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation, with a primary focus on bolstering trade, economic, and investment ties between Uzbekistan and Oman. Both parties recognized the significant potential for collaborative projects across various sectors, including energy, transportation, healthcare, tourism, geology, food, textiles, and chemicals. Special emphasis was placed on the role of the Uzbekistan – Oman Investment Company in facilitating joint ventures and investments.
An agreement was reached to convene a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in the near future, underscoring the commitment to institutionalize bilateral cooperation mechanisms. Additionally, plans were outlined to organize a joint business forum to further facilitate engagement between businesses from both countries.
The discussions also touched upon regional connectivity initiatives, notably the construction of the Trans-Afghan Railway and the promotion of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman transport corridor. Both sides expressed their willingness to collaborate closely on these projects, recognizing their potential to enhance regional connectivity and stimulate economic growth.
The meeting between President Mirziyoyev and Minister Al Yousef exemplifies the shared commitment of Uzbekistan and Oman to deepening bilateral cooperation and exploring new avenues of partnership for the benefit of their peoples. As preparations for the Tashkent International Investment Forum continue, the stage is set for further discussions and initiatives aimed at fostering greater economic integration and collaboration between the two nations.
