President Pezeshkian Approves Iran’s Membership in Asia-Pacific Accreditation Cooperation

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has officially approved the country’s membership in the Asia-Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC), marking a significant step toward strengthening Iran’s presence in international standardization and accreditation frameworks.

On Tuesday, President Pezeshkian enacted the “Law on Iran’s Membership in APAC” in accordance with Article 123 of the Iranian Constitution. The law had previously been ratified by the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Parliament) on April 16 and received final approval from the Guardian Council on May 14.

The President directed both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Standards Organization to take necessary measures to implement the legislation and formalize Iran’s integration into the regional accreditation body.

Iran’s membership in APAC is expected to bolster the country’s engagement in international quality assurance mechanisms, facilitate mutual recognition of standards and certifications, and enhance Iran’s competitiveness in global trade. The move reflects Tehran’s broader commitment to aligning with international norms and promoting the credibility of its domestic systems in international markets.
