Oman Participates in 113th Session of International Labour Conference in Geneva

Geneva, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman participated on Tuesday in the 113th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) held in Geneva, Switzerland. The event also featured related meetings for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) coordination and expanded multilateral dialogues with key stakeholders.

During the conference, the International Labour Organisation (ILO) adopted a draft resolution to amend Palestine’s membership status, changing it from a “liberation movement” to a “non-member observer state”. The resolution also affirmed Palestine’s right to full participation in the ILO’s meetings.

Oman played an active role in supporting and contributing to the adoption of the resolution, reaffirming its longstanding commitment to the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its dedication to justice and equity in international platforms.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Omani delegation took part in the GCC-ILO coordination meeting, during which discussions were held on several critical topics. These included a report by the ILO Director-General and a draft programme and budget for the 2026–2027 period. The Sultanate contributed to shaping unified GCC positions on key technical matters raised in specialized committee meetings.

Moreover, Oman participated in an expanded meeting involving representatives of production parties from GCC countries. During the session, Oman emphasized its unwavering support for tripartite dialogue and efforts to harmonize GCC stances on the agenda items of the ILC’s 113th session.

Key issues discussed during the conference included developments and challenges in the work environment, the proposed convention addressing tasks in the digital platform economy, mechanisms for protection against biological risks in the workplace, and innovative approaches to evolving labour market dynamics.

The Sultanate’s participation underscores its active engagement in international labour affairs and its commitment to fostering dialogue, protecting workers’ rights, and enhancing regional cooperation in labour-related matters.
