President Pezeshkian Reaffirms Iran’s Commitment to Strategic Cooperation with China

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: President Masoud Pezeshkian has reiterated Iran’s determination to strengthen comprehensive cooperation with China, particularly within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, underscoring the strategic importance of bilateral ties.

Chairing a meeting on Thursday to review the state of Iran–China relations, President Pezeshkian and senior officials from relevant institutions discussed key aspects of cooperation, assessed the status of existing agreements and joint projects, and considered recommendations to accelerate their implementation.

The President described Tehran–Beijing relations as “strategic,” stressing Iran’s reliability as a partner in political, economic, and international arenas, particularly in countering unilateralism. He further underlined Iran’s geopolitical role in the region and globally, reaffirming its interest in deepening constructive collaboration with China under the Belt and Road framework.

Mehdi Sanai, the President’s political advisor, confirmed that President Pezeshkian will travel to China on Sunday, August 31, to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and the SCO Plus forum.

The 2025 SCO Summit will be held in Tianjin, eastern China, from August 31 to September 1, bringing together high-level representatives from more than 30 countries. President Pezeshkian is expected to deliver addresses at both the summit and the expanded forum.
