Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reiterated Tehran’s commitment to strengthening ties with African nations, particularly Burkina Faso, during a meeting with Celestin Simporé, Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs of Burkina Faso.

Speaking on Monday, Pezeshkian said the Islamic Republic views Africa through a long-term strategic perspective grounded in mutual benefit and sustainable cooperation.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always viewed Africa through a long-term, strategic lens focused on mutual benefits,” he stated. “We are determined to pursue broad-based cooperation and are ready to use our capacities to elevate bilateral relations.”

The president underscored the importance of high-level political, defense, and economic exchanges between the two countries. He emphasized that sustained official visits and specialized consultations could deepen mutual trust, strengthen friendly relations, and expand cooperation across economic, scientific, industrial, and defense sectors.

Pezeshkian noted that advancing ties with Burkina Faso aligns with Iran’s broader Africa policy and could serve as a gateway to enhanced engagement with other African nations.

For his part, Minister Simporé commended Iran’s resilience in the face of decades of sanctions and external pressure. He praised the country’s progress over the past four decades, particularly in defense industries and advanced technologies.

The meeting reflects growing diplomatic engagement between Tehran and African capitals as Iran seeks to diversify its international partnerships and expand cooperation beyond traditional regions.
