President Xi Jinping Encourages Further Progress in China’s Space Endeavors
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping urged space industry personnel to continue advancing China’s space exploration efforts during a meeting on Monday with scientists and engineers involved in the Chang’e-6 lunar mission. The meeting, held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, emphasized the importance of accelerating progress in space endeavors, according to a statement by Xi, who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Xi praised the achievements of China’s lunar exploration project, highlighting the hard work and wisdom of multiple generations of Chinese aerospace workers. He underscored that the country’s recent advancements in scientific and technological self-reliance are embodied in the success of missions like Chang’e-6. He called on the space industry to uphold the spirit of lunar exploration, defined by “chasing dreams, daring to explore, collaborating to overcome challenges, and achieving win-win cooperation.” Xi emphasized that this spirit would strengthen national pride and contribute to China’s broader goal of becoming a strong nation and achieving national rejuvenation through modernization.
The Chang’e-6 mission, launched on May 3, marked a significant milestone in space exploration when it successfully collected 1,935.3 grams of samples from the far side of the moon—a first in human history. The samples were brought back to Earth on June 25, following breakthroughs in key technologies that further cemented China’s leadership in space exploration.
Xi reflected on the progress of China’s lunar exploration project over the past two decades, noting its focus on scientific discovery, technological innovation, engineering practice, and international cooperation. He described the project as a cost-effective and high-quality success, contributing significantly to both China’s space industry and global space exploration efforts.
Highlighting China’s transformation over the past 75 years, Xi described the space industry as having grown from “weak to strong,” achieving historic development. He reiterated that exploring outer space, developing the space industry, and building China into a space power is an “eternal dream.”
Xi also emphasized that China’s lunar program is built on principles of equality, mutual benefit, and peaceful cooperation. He reaffirmed that the Chang’e mission belongs not only to China but also to humanity as a whole, providing a platform for international cooperation in deep space exploration. China is committed to promoting international space cooperation and sharing its achievements with other nations for the benefit of all mankind.
Looking ahead, Xi called on the space sector to continue scientific research, pursue major projects such as deep space exploration, and contribute to the goal of making China a leading aerospace power.
