Russian Satellite Records Breathtaking View of Total Solar Eclipse
Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Russia’s Arktika-M meteorological satellite has captured striking footage of the total solar eclipse that occurred on August 12, showing the Moon’s shadow moving across the Earth.
The footage released by Russia’s state space corporation Roscosmos provides a unique view of the rare celestial phenomenon from orbit, as the Moon passed between the Sun and Earth and cast its shadow over parts of the planet.
The total solar eclipse was visible along a narrow path stretching from Greenland and Iceland across the Atlantic to parts of Spain, Portugal and northern Russia, while a partial eclipse could be observed across wider areas of Europe, North America and northwestern Africa.
The event attracted widespread attention from astronomers and skywatchers, with millions of people gathering in different parts of the world to observe the brief period of daytime darkness.
Satellite observations offered an additional perspective on the phenomenon, allowing the movement of the Moon’s shadow across the Earth’s surface to be observed from space.
