Samarkand, The Gulf Observer: The 25th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will be held in Samarkand on 16-20 October this year. Tourism industry representatives from more than 150 countries are expected to attend the event.
The session program includes various meetings, investment and educational forums and exhibitions.
Currently, large-scale preparations for this international forum are underway in Samarkand. The headquarters, coordinating the preparatory work, plans to provide transport services to guests, provide guides, and organize cultural and educational events. According to the Deputy Director General of Operations at Air Marakanda Hilmi Yilmaz, qualified specialists work here around the clock.
It should be noted that the most prestigious meeting of the session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization UNWTO will take place. For the first time in history, Uzbekistan is hosting such an event, resulting in creating a favorable investment environment in Uzbekistan and the attention paid to developing the tourism sector.
There were several candidates to host the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly, but it was no coincidence that Samarkand was chosen, – says Feruz Dodiyev, Head of Department at the Tourism Committee. – On the initiative of the Head of state and thanks to his attention, large-scale work is being carried out to transform Samarkand into the tourist gateway of New Uzbekistan. If earlier tourists came to Samarkand to look only at historical monuments, the number of tourist sites has increased sharply. As a result, the flow of tourists is growing from year to year. This event is a recognition of the development of the tourism sector in our country. We will demonstrate our capabilities to tourism industry representatives from more than 150 countries and promote our rich culture, traditions, and values. This will be an impetus for a further increase in the flow of tourists.
