Bamako, The Gulf Observer: The Turkish defense industry is set to present its latest innovations at the Bamako Expo (BAMEX ‘25), scheduled to take place from November 11 to 14 in Mali’s capital. The inaugural event will serve as a major platform to deepen Türkiye’s growing defense partnerships across Africa.

Organized by the Turkish firm The Peak Defense, the exhibition has been hailed as a milestone event by African media, highlighting it as a “breakthrough” moment in introducing advanced Turkish defense technology to the continent. The Malian government has extended official invitations to over 50 countries—primarily from Africa—to participate in the event.

Prominent Turkish defense companies including Baykar, Aselsan, Roketsan, MKE, STM, Kalekalip, 3E, Sarsilmaz, Atlas, ESSAV, SkyDagger, ZSR, Akincilar, and Akdas Silah will feature at the expo, showcasing a range of state-of-the-art systems and products.

The Alliance of Sahel States (AES)—comprising Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger—along with the Malian army, will also maintain dedicated booths at the event. The final two days of BAMEX 2025 will be designated as “demo days,” during which international delegations and technical experts will conduct live testing of Turkish defense products in a specially designated operations area.

The exhibition underscores Türkiye’s expanding defense footprint in Africa, as an increasing number of nations on the continent turn to Turkish manufacturers for reliable, cost-effective, and technologically advanced defense solutions.

Mali, a key country in the region with extensive and challenging borders, is particularly interested in acquiring unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), armored vehicles, radar systems, and other strategic defense technologies. Neighboring countries share similar needs amid evolving regional security dynamics.

Turkish defense products, noted for their competitive pricing and robust training support, have rapidly gained favor among African partners. The sector’s growth reflects a broader confidence in Türkiye’s ability to deliver innovative, adaptable, and dependable defense capabilities to meet Africa’s security requirements.
