Türkiye Opposes Trump’s Proposal to Expel Palestinians from Gaza, Says FM Fidan
Doha, The Gulf Observer: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has firmly rejected former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to expel Palestinians from Gaza and relocate them to other countries, stating that such a move is against humanitarian law.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Doha on Sunday alongside Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Fidan emphasized that Türkiye is “completely opposed” to the proposal and urged the international community to stand against it.
“The forced displacement of Palestinians is a violation of humanitarian principles. Everyone must take a clear stance against this,” Fidan stated, reaffirming Ankara’s commitment to Palestinian rights. He also reiterated Türkiye’s support for the recent declaration made in Cairo regarding the situation in Gaza.
Additionally, Fidan announced that Türkiye is prepared to take in some Palestinian prisoners released by Israel under the terms of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas.
“Our president has declared that we are ready to take in some freed Palestinians… in order to support the agreement. Türkiye, along with other countries, will do its part in this regard so the ceasefire agreement can remain in force,” he said.
Fidan’s remarks came during his two-day visit to Qatar, where he is holding diplomatic discussions with senior Qatari officials.
