Turkmen National Leader, Azerbaijani Economy Minister Review Expanding Bilateral Cooperation

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on Tuesday reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to further strengthening strategic ties with Azerbaijan during a meeting with Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, who is on a working visit to the country.

During the meeting, Mikayil Jabbarov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Turkmen side. He said Azerbaijan highly values the steadily growing interstate relations with Turkmenistan and praised the country’s remarkable socio-economic progress and the modern architectural development of Ashgabat.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked the Azerbaijani minister for the greetings and asked him to convey his best wishes to President Ilham Aliyev. He underscored that relations between the two neighboring and friendly countries continue to deepen on the basis of mutual respect, good-neighborliness and longstanding historical ties.

The National Leader noted that his previous high-level visits to Azerbaijan had opened a new chapter in Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations, while regular dialogue between the leadership of both countries continues to provide fresh momentum to bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.

The two sides highlighted the successful collaboration between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan both bilaterally and within international organizations, particularly the United Nations, emphasizing their shared commitment to regional stability and constructive international engagement.

Berdimuhamedov also praised the outcomes of the recent state visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan and reiterated his appreciation for the vessel “Dostluk”, presented by Azerbaijan as a gift to the Turkmen people.

The meeting also underscored the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, with both sides noting the successful organization of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Baku and Ganja, as well as the Days of Culture of Azerbaijan in Ashgabat and Arkadag.

The National Leader further highlighted ongoing preparations for the international environmental event “Ene-tebigat” (Mother Nature), scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan from October 19 to November 30. The event will be jointly organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charity Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Berdimuhamedov and Jabbarov expressed confidence that Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations would continue to expand across political, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, and exchanged wishes for good health, happiness and continued success.
