Turkmenistan and Etihad Rail Explore Expanded Transport and Logistics Cooperation

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan and Etihad Rail, the national railway operator of the United Arab Emirates, held high-level talks in Ashgabat to explore prospects for enhanced cooperation in the transport and logistics sectors, including the development of joint infrastructure projects, according to a statement by the UAE Embassy in Turkmenistan.
The discussions took place on Wednesday during a meeting between Mammethan Chakiyev, Director General of the Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmed Al Hameli, and an accompanying delegation from Etihad Rail.
The same day, Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov received Tariq Mohammed Al Falahi, Executive Director of International Relations at Etihad Rail. The talks focused on expanding collaboration in the fields of railway, maritime, and air transport, as well as the development of port infrastructure. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral and multilateral transport and communication linkages to support regional connectivity and trade.
Etihad Rail is the UAE’s flagship railway initiative, designed to establish a modern, sustainable, and integrated transport network connecting all seven emirates and linking the country with regional partners.
The meetings underscored the shared commitment of Turkmenistan and the UAE to foster greater cooperation in infrastructure development and cross-border logistics, in line with their broader strategic partnership.
