Turkmenistan Celebrates 2024 as “The Treasury of Reason of Magtymguly Fragi” with Landmark Achievements
Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: Turkmenistan concluded 2024, a year dedicated to honoring the life and legacy of the great poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi, with significant cultural, diplomatic, and developmental milestones.
Under the motto “The Treasury of Reason of Magtymguly Fragi”, the year witnessed the unveiling of a monument and cultural park complex in Ashgabat dedicated to the poet, alongside the erection of a monument in Astana, Kazakhstan. Highlighting the anniversary, the International Forum “Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development” was successfully held in the Turkmen capital.
Global Recognition of Magtymguly Fragi
The year was marked by international acclaim for Fragi’s contributions to literature and philosophy. The International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) declared 2024 as the “Year of Magtymguly Fragi”, and UNESCO recognized the poet’s 300th anniversary in its List of Memorable Dates for 2024-2025. A collection of his manuscripts was also included in the UNESCO Memory of the World program.
Scientific conferences, literary evenings, and creative competitions celebrated Fragi’s legacy across Turkmenistan and on international stages, including at the UN headquarters in New York and UNESCO in Paris.
Diplomatic Achievements and Peaceful Initiatives
Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, rooted in peacefulness, achieved notable success in 2024. The UN General Assembly adopted several Turkmen-initiated resolutions promoting peace and sustainable development. The city of Arkadag garnered multiple international awards, including recognitions for its achievements as a “smart city” and its contribution to global innovation and quality standards. Events such as the VI Vienna Ball, the II Theatre Festival of TURKSOY Member Countries, and conferences for writers and artists enriched the nation’s cultural calendar.
Infrastructure and Economic Advancements
Turkmenistan made significant progress in infrastructure and socio-economic development under the country’s national programs. Key projects included the commissioning of a 177-meter railway bridge on the Turkmen-Afghan border, advancements in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, and upgrades to fiber-optic and railway networks.
The nation also recorded remarkable achievements in the trade, energy, agriculture, and transport sectors, enhancing its economic stability and regional connectivity.
