Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and New Zealand have signed a Memorandum of Arrangement (MoA) to initiate a groundbreaking collaboration in Antarctic scientific research. The agreement highlights both nations’ commitment to environmental conservation in Antarctica and advancing global scientific cooperation.

The MoA, signed between the Emirates Polar Programme and Antarctica New Zealand, was formalized during an official ceremony. The key signatories were Abdulla Balalaa, UAE’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability Affairs and Vice-Chair of the Emirates Polar Programme Steering Committee, and Paula Wilson, Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand.

This strategic partnership aims to enhance joint research efforts, foster academic exchange, and strengthen capacity building. The agreement focuses on collaborative projects that will contribute to a deeper understanding of Antarctica’s ecosystem, climate change impacts, and environmental preservation.

Speaking on the significance of this collaboration, Abdulla Balalaa stated:
