Uzbekistan and International Finance Corporation Strengthen Public-Private Partnership Cooperation

Tashkent, The Gulf Observer: Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with a delegation led by Wiebke Schloemer, Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Türkiye and Central Asia, in Tashkent. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in various sectors, including public-private partnerships (PPP) and key development areas in Uzbekistan.
Discussions centered on enhancing the development of PPP projects in Uzbekistan, reviewing ongoing initiatives, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration. Special attention was given to optimizing land use, strengthening cooperation in energy, green development, healthcare, agriculture, and land resources.
The IFC delegation expressed its strong support for Uzbekistan’s public-private partnership program and commended the government’s efforts to improve the investment environment. The representatives also highlighted their readiness to assist in the country’s PPP projects and to further enhance Uzbekistan’s transformation process, particularly in the privatization of state-owned banks.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to continue strengthening their cooperation and to implement new projects aimed at advancing Uzbekistan’s economic development.
