Uzbekistan Citizens Granted Visa-Free Entry to Thailand Starting 1 June 2024
Bangkok, The Gulf Observer: In a significant move to boost its tourism sector, Thailand has announced the cancellation of the visa regime for tourists from 36 countries, including Uzbekistan, effective from 1 June 2024. This policy change allows Uzbek citizens, along with those from China, India, Kazakhstan, and other nations, to enter Thailand without a visa.
The new visa-free regime extends the permissible stay for tourists from these countries from 30 to 60 days. Prior to this measure, Uzbek citizens were required to obtain a visa on arrival, which permitted a stay of up to 30 days.
Thai authorities believe this initiative will stimulate the country’s tourism industry, making it more accessible and attractive to international visitors. The extended stay period is expected to encourage longer visits and greater expenditure within the local economy.
This development marks a strategic effort by Thailand to recover and expand its tourism sector post-pandemic, reinforcing its status as a leading global travel destination.
