Uzbekistan’s FM Attends Funeral of Late Iranian President in Tehran
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: In a show of profound solidarity and respect, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, arrived in Tehran yesterday to attend the funeral ceremony of the late President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi. The solemn event was also attended by Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other distinguished dignitaries.
Minister Saidov announced his arrival on his official Telegram channel, stating, “Together with the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, H.E. Nurdinjon Ismoilov, we arrived in Tehran to participate in the funeral ceremony for the late President of Iran, H.E. Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister H.E. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other dignitaries. On behalf of the President of Uzbekistan, H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, we expressed profound solidarity with the people of Iran and deepest condolences.”
The funeral marks a period of mourning and reflection for the Iranian people following the tragic death of President Raisi, who, along with his accompanying delegation, perished in a helicopter crash in northern Iran.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had previously visited the Iranian Embassy in Uzbekistan on May 21 to personally convey his condolences. During this visit, he left a heartfelt message of sympathy and support in the Book of Condolences, which was opened at the diplomatic mission. Additionally, President Mirziyoyev sent a formal message of condolences to Iran’s Supreme Spiritual Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, expressing the sorrow of the Uzbek people over the tragic incident.
This series of condolences and high-level visits underscores the strong ties and mutual respect between Uzbekistan and Iran, highlighting a shared sense of loss and solidarity during this difficult time.
