Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính Begins Official Visit to France

Nice, The Gulf Observer: Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level Vietnamese delegation, arrived in Nice City, France, on the afternoon of June 7 (local time), officially beginning a five-day working trip. The visit includes his participation in the third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) and a series of important bilateral engagements.
The trip is being conducted at the invitation of UN Secretary-General António Guterres and French President Emmanuel Macron, highlighting Vietnam’s elevated role on the international stage.
Upon arrival at Côte d’Azur Airport, the delegation was warmly received by representatives from the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador Đinh Toàn Thắng, embassy staff, and members of the Vietnamese expatriate community in France.
This marks the first time a Vietnamese Prime Minister has participated in a UN Ocean Conference, and PM Chính’s first official visit to France since the upgrade of Vietnam–France relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in October 2024.
As a special guest of President Macron at the UNOC 3, PM Chính is scheduled to participate in several key sessions and side events. These include forums on green finance and green economy, a marine science exhibition, and a summit on delta regions, which he will co-chair. He is also expected to deliver a keynote address at the plenary session, emphasizing Vietnam’s commitment to sustainable ocean governance and environmental responsibility.
PM Chính’s participation in the UNOC 3 affirms Vietnam’s status as a responsible and proactive global partner. It showcases the country’s willingness to share experiences and contribute to collective international efforts to protect marine ecosystems and advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In addition to multilateral diplomacy, PM Chính will hold bilateral meetings with global leaders and heads of international organizations to explore avenues for cooperation and partnership.
On the bilateral front with France, his agenda includes talks with senior French officials, attending the Vietnam–France Business Forum, and engaging with CEOs of leading French corporations. He will also meet with scholars, intellectuals, and representatives of the Vietnamese community living in France.
These engagements are part of Vietnam’s efforts to translate the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into concrete actions, building on the momentum generated by President Macron’s state visit to Vietnam in May 2025. The meetings aim to further strengthen multifaceted cooperation in trade, science, technology, education, and sustainable development between the two nations.
