Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of maintaining strategic resolve and unity as the country continues its journey toward modernization, addressing the nation during a gathering held by China’s top political advisory body on Tuesday to usher in the new year.
Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, acknowledged that the path to Chinese modernization would not always be smooth. “On the journey of Chinese modernization, we will not only encounter clear skies and gentle breezes, but also face high winds, choppy waters, and even dangerous storms,” Xi said. “We must maintain strategic resolve and pool the great strength of all Chinese people striving in unity to cut through the waves and forge ahead with courage.”
Reflecting on the challenges faced in 2024, both domestically and internationally, Xi noted that China responded calmly and effectively, meeting major economic and social development targets for the year. He highlighted the extraordinary progress made, which has bolstered the nation’s determination and confidence in advancing its modernization goals.
Looking ahead to 2025, the year marking the conclusion of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), Xi outlined plans for implementing proactive macroeconomic policies aimed at fostering sustained economic recovery, improving living standards, and ensuring social harmony and stability. He stressed the importance of high-quality fulfillment of the goals and tasks of the 14th Five-Year Plan to lay a solid foundation for a successful start to the 15th Five-Year Plan.
Xi’s remarks underscored China’s commitment to overcoming challenges and continuing its trajectory toward becoming a stronger and more prosperous nation in the years to come.
