Zardari and Raisi Hold Talks on Gaza Situation and Bilateral Relations
Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Pakistan and Iran have jointly reiterated the imperative for intensified international efforts to halt the Israeli aggression in Gaza and have called for increased humanitarian aid to assist the distressed populace of the Palestinian enclave.
During a meeting held at the President House on Monday, President Asif Ali Zardari and visiting Iranian President Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi engaged in discussions concerning pivotal regional and global developments, with a particular focus on the Middle East situation.
An official statement from the Presidency highlighted President Zardari’s profound concern regarding the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Gaza. He vehemently denounced Israel’s military assaults on the innocent Palestinians, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives. President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering and steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the country’s commitment to advocating for justice and peace in the region.
In response, President Raisi commended Pakistan’s consistent solidarity with the Palestinian brethren amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Iranian President also acknowledged Pakistan’s principled stance and continuous support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), affirming their right to self-determination.
The leaders underscored the imperative for further enhancing and solidifying bilateral relations across various domains of mutual interest. President Raisi emphasized the necessity of expanding economic, trade, and cultural ties between the two brotherly nations to serve their collective interests.
President Zardari emphasized the deep-rooted fraternal bonds shared by Pakistan and Iran, based on common religious, cultural, and historical ties, advocating for their augmentation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
Expressing gratitude, President Zardari thanked Dr. Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi for choosing Pakistan as the destination for his first state visit following the general elections, underscoring the Iranian President’s personal commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan.
Both leaders stressed the importance of operationalizing bilateral trade mechanisms to elevate trade volume to $10 billion, reflecting their shared aspiration to bolster economic cooperation. Additionally, they highlighted the necessity for collaborative efforts to address the challenges confronting the region, affirming their commitment to joint action and cooperation in overcoming these hurdles.
