Former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki Passes Away at 56

Mountain View, The Gulf Observer: Susan Wojcicki, former CEO of YouTube and one of the first employees at Google, has passed away at the age of 56 after a two-year battle with cancer. The news was confirmed by Google CEO Sundar Pichai on Saturday via a post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), citing a report from NHC via Reuters.

“Unbelievably saddened by the loss of my dear friend Susan Wojcicki after two years of living with cancer. She is as core to the history of Google as anyone, and it’s hard to imagine the world without her,” Pichai expressed in his heartfelt tribute.

Wojcicki, a trailblazer and one of the most influential women in the technology industry, stepped down from her role at YouTube in 2023, concluding a nine-year tenure as the platform’s CEO. Her leadership was pivotal in shaping YouTube into the global video-sharing giant it is today.

Her husband, Dennis Troper, also shared the devastating news earlier in the evening through a post on Facebook. “It is with profound sadness that I share the news of Susan Wojcicki’s passing. My beloved wife of 26 years and mother to our five children left us today after two years of living with non-small cell lung cancer,” Troper wrote.

Wojcicki’s death marks the end of an era for Google and YouTube, where she played an instrumental role in the companies’ growth and success. She leaves behind a lasting legacy in the tech world, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.
