NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man Meets with Vietnamese Community in Russia

Moscow, The Gulf Observer: Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Trần Thanh Mẫn met with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia on Sunday, during his official visit to the country. This marks the first visit by Mẫn in his capacity as NA Chairman, and the first by a prominent Vietnamese leader to Russia this year.

Briefing the gathered attendees on the current situation in Vietnam, Mẫn highlighted the Party, State, and NA’s commitment to maintaining economic growth, controlling inflation, stabilising the macroeconomy, and ensuring social welfare. The NA Chairman lauded the solidarity and strong cohesion among the Vietnamese community in Russia, underscoring the State’s continued efforts to issue and amend policies to support overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in line with the Party’s strategic guidelines.

Mẫn expressed his hope that the Vietnamese diaspora in Russia would continue to uphold national traditions, support each other, adhere to local laws, and actively integrate into Russian society. He stressed the importance of their contributions not only to the development of Russia but also to the strengthening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. Furthermore, the Chairman encouraged the community to preserve the Vietnamese language and culture, while making further contributions to the homeland.

Earlier in the day, Mẫn and his delegation paid tribute to President Hồ Chí Minh by laying a wreath at his statue in Moscow.

This three-day visit aims to solidify the joint statement on enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia. It comes on the heels of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Vietnam in June and builds upon the 30-year legacy of the Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations between the two nations. The visit is also part of efforts to bolster the close ties between the Vietnamese National Assembly and Russia’s State Duma and Federation Council.

During his visit, Chairman Mẫn is scheduled to hold talks with Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, and co-chair the third session of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. In addition, he will engage in discussions with Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council, with plans to sign a new cooperation agreement between the Vietnamese NA and the Federation Council.

Mẫn’s agenda also includes meetings with high-ranking Russian officials, political party leaders, and regional representatives with cooperation ties to Vietnam. He is also expected to meet with leaders of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association and veterans who participated in the Vietnam War.
