Saudi FM Announces Launch of International Coalition for Two-State Solution

New York, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, announced the formation of the International Coalition to Implement the Two-State Solution during a high-profile ministerial meeting on Thursday. The meeting, focused on the Palestinian issue and peace efforts, took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Speaking on behalf of Arab and Islamic nations, as well as European partners, Prince Faisal introduced the coalition as a comprehensive initiative to advance peace in the region. “We are committed to exerting our utmost efforts to establish a reliable and irreversible path toward a just and comprehensive peace,” he said, extending an invitation to the international community to join the effort. The initiative aims to secure an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel, in line with long-standing international peace resolutions.

Addressing the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Prince Faisal condemned the humanitarian crisis caused by military actions, citing grave violations committed by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank and threats to Al-Aqsa Mosque. “Self-defense cannot justify the killing of tens of thousands of civilians, the systematic destruction, forced displacement, and the use of starvation as a tool of war,” he stated, highlighting the impact of such violence on regional stability.

The Foreign Minister also denounced the incitement, dehumanization, and systematic torture, including sexual violence, documented by United Nations reports, further criticizing the selective application of international law.

Prince Faisal emphasized the urgency of halting the escalating violence, warning that the conflict was pushing the region toward a wider war. “We are witnessing a dangerous regional escalation affecting Lebanon, bringing us closer to the risk of a regional war that threatens our region and the world,” he cautioned, calling for accountability for those impeding the peace process.

He reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to a two-state solution, calling it not merely the outcome of political negotiations but an inherent right of the Palestinian people. He urged the global community to recognize the State of Palestine and align with the 149 nations that have already done so, stressing that “implementing the two-state solution is the best way to break the cycle of conflict and suffering, creating a new reality of security and coexistence for the entire region, including Israel.”

The launch of the coalition marks a significant step in Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to foster peace and stability in the Middle East.
