President Prabowo Subianto Welcomed by Chinese President Xi Jinping
Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was warmly welcomed by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, during an official state ceremony on Saturday.
Prior to the ceremony, both leaders introduced their respective delegations. Representing Indonesia were key ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Investment Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, and Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono. Deputy Ministers for Defense, Higher Education, Science and Technology, Housing, and Settlement Areas, along with top military officials and the Indonesian Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, also accompanied President Prabowo. The Chinese delegation was led by Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The ceremonial welcome included the playing of both national anthems, Indonesia Raya and March of the Volunteers, followed by a formal troop inspection by the two leaders. They were greeted by a group of around thirty children carrying flowers and flags from both nations, who enthusiastically chanted “Welcome” in Mandarin.
After the ceremony, Prabowo and Xi held a bilateral meeting, where Xi lauded the peaceful government transition in Indonesia and expressed eagerness to strengthen ties with the country under Prabowo’s leadership. President Prabowo extended his gratitude for the warm reception and expressed optimism for further cooperation between Indonesia and China.
The leaders later witnessed the signing of several memorandums of understanding (MOUs), aimed at enhancing collaboration in various fields, reinforcing the commitment to a robust Indonesia-China partnership.
