PIA Set to Resume EU Flights in January 2025

Karachi, The Gulf Observer: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to resume flights to destinations across the European Union (EU) starting in January 2025, following the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s (EASA) decision to lift the ban on the airline. The resumption of operations will come after a hiatus of nearly four and a half years and a financial loss of approximately Rs450 billion.

EASA issued its authorization on Friday, allowing PIA to once again operate flights to the EU. This move marks a significant recovery for the airline after a temporary ban was imposed on all Pakistani airlines in June 2020. The ban followed a government investigation triggered by a tragic plane crash in Karachi, which uncovered that 262 Pakistani pilots were operating with fake licenses.

According to sources, PIA will initially resume its flight operations with a service to Paris in January 2025, marking the first European destination in its resumed operations.
