Trump Hails Saudi Arabia as “Greatest Nation,” Pledges Stronger U.S.–Saudi Ties in Landmark Riyadh Address

Greatest Nation

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: In a striking show of solidarity and admiration, U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday praised Saudi Arabia as “the greatest nation in the world,” during a keynote address at the Saudi–U.S. Investment Forum in Riyadh. His remarks underscored the growing alignment between Washington and Riyadh across economic, diplomatic, and security fronts.

Addressing a packed forum of business and political leaders, Trump lauded the Kingdom’s rapid economic transformation and rising global stature. “You are among the most prosperous nations in the world,” he said. “Riyadh will become a global business hub. The future of the Middle East begins here.”

The former president reserved special praise for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, describing him as “a tireless leader” whose drive and vision are reshaping the region. “He works hard — I don’t think he even sleeps at night,” Trump remarked. He also credited King Salman and the Crown Prince with steering “a remarkable and profound transformation” that is redefining the Middle East’s economic and geopolitical landscape.

Calling his visit to the Kingdom “historic,” Trump emphasized his commitment to strengthening U.S.–Saudi ties. “We will make our relationship with Saudi Arabia even stronger,” he vowed, receiving sustained applause from the audience.

Trump also acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic efforts, particularly in facilitating discussions on the war in Ukraine. “We thank the Kingdom for its constructive role,” he said, before turning attention to Iran. “I want to strike a deal with Iran to make the world a safer place,” Trump declared, signaling a willingness to reengage diplomatically.

In a significant policy shift, the president announced his decision to lift U.S. sanctions on Syria, citing consultations with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. “I decided to lift sanctions on Syria after discussing the matter with the Saudi Crown Prince,” he revealed, suggesting a potential new chapter in U.S. Middle East policy.

On defense, Trump was unequivocal in his message. “Anyone who threatens America and its partners will be met with force,” he said. “I will not hesitate to use military force to defend Saudi Arabia.”

The speech marked a reaffirmation of the U.S.–Saudi alliance, signaling deeper cooperation in economic development, regional diplomacy, and security. As the Kingdom continues to position itself as a hub for global investment and geopolitical dialogue, Trump’s remarks reflect a vision of close partnership and mutual ambition between the two nations.
