Brussels, The Gulf Observer: A delegation from Hànội, led by Trần Đức Thắng, Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, has held a series of investment promotion meetings with financial institutions, multinational corporations and international business associations during a working visit to Belgium.
The meetings focused on attracting high-quality investment, expanding international business partnerships and advancing Hà Nội’s priorities in industrial infrastructure, high technology, digital transformation, sustainable development and modern urban transport.
During discussions with representatives of Aquitara Fund and 512 Capital B.V., Thắng outlined the Vietnamese capital’s investment priorities, particularly in industrial infrastructure, high technology, data centres and green development.
He emphasised that Hà Nội prioritised high-quality projects incorporating advanced technologies, efficient resource utilisation and long-term contributions to the city’s economic and social development.
Thắng reaffirmed the city’s readiness to facilitate capable investors in exploring and proposing projects that align with its development plans and applicable legal regulations.
In a separate meeting with H&M Group, he acknowledged the company’s business performance and market expansion strategy in Việt Nam, including its operations in Hà Nội.
Responding to the company’s proposals to expand its retail network and establish a flagship store in the city centre, Thắng said Hà Nội welcomed reputable international brands seeking to strengthen their presence in the capital.
He also directed relevant municipal agencies to enhance coordination with the company and provide support in surveying potential locations and identifying suitable sites for its proposed expansion.
Meanwhile, Dương Đức Tuấn, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hà Nội People’s Committee, held discussions with representatives of Siemens Mobility and DB Engineering & Consulting on the city’s urban railway development plans and opportunities for cooperation with German companies specialising in railway technology, engineering solutions and operations management.
Tuấn stressed that developing a modern and integrated transport system, with urban railways serving as its backbone, was a key priority in Hà Nội’s long-term development strategy.
He highlighted the importance of digital technologies, network connectivity and operational efficiency in developing the city’s transport infrastructure. He also expressed the city’s openness to cooperation with capable international partners in infrastructure assessments and development.
Welcoming practical cooperation proposals from the two companies, Tuấn called on relevant municipal departments and agencies to continue examining technical solutions tailored to Hà Nội’s requirements and transport development plans.
The delegation also met representatives of the German Business Association in Việt Nam (GBA) and the European Chamber of Commerce in Việt Nam (EuroCham).
During the meetings, Tuấn underscored Hà Nội’s appreciation for the European business community’s contributions to the city’s economic growth and international integration.
Representatives of both business associations expressed confidence in Hà Nội’s economic potential, competitive advantages and dynamic development. They also called for closer engagement with municipal authorities and more regular updates on the city’s planning directions and investment priorities to facilitate the expansion of their business operations.
Welcoming the proposals, including an initiative to explore the establishment of a “German House” in Hà Nội, Tuấn emphasised the importance of strengthening specialised investment promotion activities and business networking between the city and German and European companies.
Throughout the meetings, Hà Nội’s leaders outlined the city’s strategic development priorities, including improving the legal framework, implementing sustainable urban planning, modernising infrastructure, accelerating digital transformation, promoting innovation and advancing green growth.
The municipal authorities reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating investment, supporting businesses and safeguarding investors’ legitimate interests. They also expressed the expectation that the proposals discussed during the visit would be translated into practical programmes and feasible projects consistent with Hà Nội’s development objectives and legal requirements.
The meetings form part of Hà Nội’s broader efforts to attract international investment, strengthen economic cooperation with European partners and promote sustainable urban development through advanced technologies, modern infrastructure and deeper international business engagement.
