Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Pays Courtesy Call on Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid a courtesy call on His Eminence Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on Monday in Tehran. The meeting focused on matters of bilateral and regional significance, reinforcing the strategic and historical bond between the two neighboring nations.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation including Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, and Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed profound respect for the Supreme Leader, describing him as a guiding figure for the Muslim world and a source of inspiration for the broader Muslim Ummah. He acknowledged Ayatollah Khamenei’s esteemed leadership and moral authority within the Islamic community.

The Prime Minister briefed the Supreme Leader on the recent tensions with India, expressing gratitude for Iran’s principled support against Indian aggression. He reiterated Pakistan’s consistent stance in favor of regional peace, dialogue, and economic development, while drawing attention to India’s hegemonic and revisionist ambitions that threaten regional stability.

Underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to elevating bilateral relations with Iran, Prime Minister Sharif stated that his government was determined to further strengthen strategic cooperation, particularly in light of shifting geopolitical dynamics. He also lauded Iran’s leadership for its diplomatic maturity in pursuing nuclear negotiations with the United States, expressing hope for a constructive resolution that would contribute to regional peace and security.

In response, Ayatollah Khamenei commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts in promoting peace, dialogue, and regional cooperation. He also acknowledged the Prime Minister’s dedication to enhancing Iran-Pakistan relations and offered prayers for the continued prosperity and development of the Pakistani people.

Prime Minister Sharif also expressed appreciation for the Supreme Leader’s long-standing admiration for the works of Allama Iqbal, Pakistan’s national poet and philosopher. He extended a heartfelt invitation to Ayatollah Khamenei to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
