Kyonekapyin-Tapseik Wildlife Conservation Area Welcomes Visitors to Document Birdlife and Promote Wetland Awareness

Wakema Township, The Gulf Observer: The Kyonekapyin-Tapseik Wildlife Conservation Group (KTCG) has officially announced that visitors are now welcome to explore and record the natural beauty and diverse bird species found within the Kyonekapyin-Tapseik Wildlife Conservation Area.
Situated in Shwe Laung sub-township, this rich wetland habitat is home to a remarkable variety of both indigenous and migratory bird species, including the sarus crane, yellow-breasted bunting, Cinnyris asiaticus (purple sunbird), Asian Openbill, and Great Cormorant.
The conservation area experiences seasonal migrations, attracting birds for breeding during the rainy season, while rare and winter-only species also make it their temporary home. This makes the site a significant location for ornithological observation and ecological study.
KTCG invites bird enthusiasts, researchers, and nature lovers to visit and document these species comprehensively. In addition to conservation efforts, the group is actively engaged in educational initiatives, including the installation of awareness boards on wetland preservation and collaboration with local schools to enhance environmental consciousness among youth.
This initiative underscores the group’s commitment to biodiversity preservation and public participation in sustainable conservation practices.
