Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia and New Zealand have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in drug enforcement following a meeting between the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and New Zealand Ambassador to Indonesia Phillip Taula in Jakarta on Monday, according to a BNN statement released Tuesday.

BNN head Suyudi Ario Seto highlighted previous collaborations between the two countries, including training programs for BNN officers at New Zealand’s Police Dog Training School in 2017.

“I hope cooperation between BNN and the New Zealand government will continue to improve, especially in drug enforcement through training and information exchange,” Seto said, emphasizing the agency’s need for further capacity-building programs, particularly in investigations, cryptocurrency tracking, and dark web monitoring.

Seto expressed optimism that the latest discussions would pave the way for concrete initiatives, further strengthening bilateral relations.

Ambassador Taula, accompanied by New Zealand Police Liaison Officer to Indonesia Paul Borrell, congratulated Seto on his recent inauguration as BNN head in August. He reaffirmed New Zealand’s commitment to expanding its partnership with BNN, particularly in the field of drug enforcement.
