Saudi Cabinet Affirms Readiness to Cooperate with US on Gaza Peace Plan

Riyadh, The Gulf Observer: The Council of Ministers on Tuesday reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to cooperate with the United States to achieve comprehensive peace in Gaza, following the announcement of US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan.
The Cabinet session, chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh, expressed appreciation for President Trump’s declaration against the annexation of the West Bank by Israel.
Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the Cabinet welcomed the US administration’s plan, which aims to end the conflict in Gaza, rebuild the territory, and facilitate the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid.
Emphasizing the Kingdom’s commitment to achieving a comprehensive agreement, the Cabinet underscored the need for Israel’s complete withdrawal and for adequate humanitarian assistance to be delivered to Gaza without restriction. It stressed that these efforts support the pursuit of a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution, ensuring the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Council also highlighted the Kingdom’s diplomatic efforts to expand international recognition of the State of Palestine, underlining the global commitment to the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
At the outset of the meeting, the Crown Prince extended his gratitude to leaders of friendly nations for their warm congratulations on Saudi Arabia’s 95th National Day, praising the blessings of stability, prosperity, and development that the Kingdom continues to enjoy.
The Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom’s external engagements, commending the positive outcomes of Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit, which saw the signing of a Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement to strengthen defense cooperation and promote regional peace.
The session also lauded Saudi Arabia’s active participation in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, reflecting the Kingdom’s global stature and leadership role in promoting peace, dialogue, and justice.
Furthermore, the Cabinet welcomed the Kingdom’s election to the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and to the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), viewing these successes as recognition of Saudi Arabia’s leadership and contributions in both nuclear cooperation and aviation.
The Council celebrated the inclusion of the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve in UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Program, emphasizing the Kingdom’s dedication to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
It also praised the successful organization of the second Global Infrastructure Forum in Riyadh, which gathered wide international participation and saw the signing of agreements to foster sustainability and enhance urban quality of life.
The Cabinet reviewed key developments in the water sector, including the launch of 122 environmental, water, and agriculture projects in the Eastern Province worth SR28.8 billion, aimed at boosting sustainability, treatment capacity, and water quality systems.
Additionally, the Council authorized ministers and senior officials to sign several international agreements and memoranda of understanding, including:
- An MoU on environmental protection with Somalia.
- An agreement on investment protection and encouragement with Morocco.
- An MoU on cooperation in health education, training, and research with South Korea.
- A cooperation agreement between the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) and the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).
The Cabinet also approved the Tourism Development Fund’s membership in the World Tourism Organization as an associate member, and authorized the Minister of Finance to issue a license for Easy Bank.
