Saudi Arabia, Pakistan Reaffirm Cooperation in Agriculture, Food Security and Investment

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in agriculture and food security, enhancing investment opportunities and increasing bilateral trade in line with the longstanding relations and mutual interests of the two countries.

The understanding was reached during an official visit to Pakistan by Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fadhly, who led a high-level delegation to explore new avenues of cooperation in agriculture and food security.

The visit focused on improving the efficiency of irrigation and water systems, promoting investment opportunities and expanding trade between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, with the aim of further strengthening the two countries’ economic partnership.

During the visit, Al-Fadhly met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, where they reviewed various aspects of bilateral cooperation in agriculture and food security. The two sides discussed measures to further develop cooperation in these sectors and explored opportunities for increased investment, particularly in promising agricultural and food-security projects.

The discussions also sought to advance the economic partnership between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and broaden prospects for mutually beneficial investment and trade.

The Saudi minister also attended a review of the strategic plan for agriculture and food cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The session was attended by Pakistani ministers responsible for food security and national research, and commerce, along with representatives of provincial governments.

As part of the visit, Al-Fadhly participated in the Saudi-Pakistani Agricultural Business Forum, which was attended by Pakistan’s ministers of finance and commerce as well as representatives of the private sector.

The forum examined ways to strengthen investment partnerships and expand cooperation between the Saudi and Pakistani business communities in the agriculture and food sectors.

The visit reflects the continued commitment of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to deepening their longstanding bilateral relations and expanding economic and investment cooperation across key sectors, particularly agriculture, food security, water management and trade.
