Pakistan

Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, will lead a high-level parliamentary delegation to Pakistan on Wednesday, in a bid to strengthen political and economic ties between the two neighboring countries.

The visit follows an invitation from Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly. During his stay in Islamabad, Speaker Qalibaf is scheduled to hold meetings with the speakers and members of both the National Assembly and the Senate of Pakistan.

In addition, he will meet senior political officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to discuss avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation and key regional developments.

As part of the visit, the Iranian delegation will also travel to Lahore and Karachi, two major cultural and economic hubs of Pakistan, where they are set to engage with cultural and religious figures, as well as leading Pakistani businessmen and traders.

Members of Iran’s Parliament, including representatives from the Iran–Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group, will accompany Speaker Qalibaf throughout the trip.

Bilateral trade between Pakistan and Iran has already surpassed $3 billion, and both nations aim to increase this volume to $10 billion through targeted initiatives and the removal of existing barriers. The visit underscores Tehran and Islamabad’s commitment to deepening strategic, economic, and cultural relations.
