Turkmen Foreign Minister Meets EU Ambassador to Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: On January 14, 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with Beata Peksa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Turkmenistan, to discuss avenues for enhancing cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed a broad spectrum of issues, including political-diplomatic relations, trade and economic collaboration, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges. Particular attention was given to the preparation and coordination of upcoming high-level and top-level official visits.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the parties to exchange views on regional and international developments, reinforcing mutual understanding on key global issues.

In addition, the diplomats discussed the implementation of ongoing and prospective joint projects in areas such as high technologies, transportation, economic development, energy, environmental protection, and professional education, highlighting a shared commitment to deepening strategic and practical cooperation.
