Turkmenistan Sets September 2 for Wheat Sowing, September 9 for Cotton Harvest

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: President of Turkmenistan has approved September 2 as the official start date for the wheat sowing campaign and September 9 for cotton harvesting in the country’s regions, according to Turkmen state media.

The dates were approved during a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held via videoconference, where Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahallyyev briefed the government on preparations for the upcoming seasonal agricultural activities.

According to the report, agricultural preparations for next year’s wheat crop are currently underway across the regions. Farmers are carrying out plowing, land levelling, ridge formation and furrow preparation, while wheat seeders are being prepared and high-quality seed varieties are being secured for the sowing campaign.

Meanwhile, field maintenance work in cotton-growing areas is nearing completion. Preparations are also underway at cotton processing facilities and receiving stations to ensure they are ready for the harvesting season.

Authorities are additionally preparing cotton-picking combines, vehicles and other agricultural machinery to facilitate the timely and organised collection of the crop.

Addressing members of the Cabinet of Ministers, the President stressed that wheat sowing and cotton harvesting are important and responsible agricultural seasons for the country’s grain and cotton producers.

The President accordingly approved September 2 as the beginning of wheat sowing and September 9 as the start of cotton harvesting in the regions, calling for the campaigns to be conducted in an organised and efficient manner.

The government has been instructed to ensure the necessary preparations and coordination are completed in advance to support farmers and maintain the smooth progress of the agricultural campaigns.
