Romanian Foreign Minister Holds Talks with U.S. Congressman Mike Rogers on Defense and Strategic Cooperation

Washington, The Gulf Observer: Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu held a working meeting in Washington with Congressman Mike Rogers, Chairman of the U.S. House Armed Services Committee, focusing on regional security and enhanced bilateral cooperation in the defense sector.
During the meeting, the Romanian foreign minister highlighted the long-standing friendship with Congressman Rogers and underscored Romania’s strong relationship with the U.S. state of Alabama, which played a key role as an early partner during Romania’s accession to NATO.
The discussions centered on the evolving security environment, particularly in the Black Sea and the Eastern Flank, and emphasized the importance of expanding joint investments in the defense industry. Minister Țoiu noted that both sides see tangible opportunities for establishing new Romanian-American defense production and maintenance facilities amid rising international demand.
The Romanian side also expressed appreciation for continued congressional support for regional security and exchanged views on strengthening diplomatic engagement with the U.S. Legislature as part of the broader strategic partnership.
As part of the talks, Minister Țoiu extended an invitation to Congressman Mike Rogers to visit Romania in 2026, with the aim of further strengthening the economic dimension of the Romanian-American strategic partnership.
According to the foreign minister, meetings in Washington are continuing in the coming days as Romania seeks to deepen cooperation with the United States across strategic, security, and economic domains.
