Vietnam Finance Minister Holds Talks with Major US Corporations and Financial Institutions

New York, The Gulf Observer: Vietnamese Minister of Finance Ngô Văn Tuấn held working sessions with senior representatives of major US corporations and financial institutions during his visit to the United States, focusing on investment, sustainable development and Vietnam’s integration with international financial markets.
The meetings were held in conjunction with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Tô Lâm’s participation in the high-level General Debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and his bilateral activities in the United States, as well as his state visit to Canada from September 20 to 25.
During a meeting with a Coca-Cola delegation led by Dean Thompson, Senior Director for Global Policy and Sustainability at The Coca-Cola Company, Minister Tuấn discussed the company’s operations in Vietnam, future cooperation, the investment and business environment, and sustainable development.
Tuấn noted that Coca-Cola has operated in Vietnam for more than three decades, with total investment exceeding US$1 billion. He appreciated the company’s contributions to production, employment generation, State budget revenues, supply chain development and community programmes.
He emphasized that economic, trade and investment cooperation remains an important pillar of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Vietnam hopes that US companies, including Coca-Cola, will continue to expand their long-term investments in the country while contributing to innovation, supply chain development, the green transition and increased value creation.
Thompson said Vietnam remains an important market for Coca-Cola and expressed the company’s interest in expanding cooperation with the country.
He added that Coca-Cola would continue aligning its operations in Vietnam with sustainable development priorities, including product innovation, resource efficiency, sustainable packaging, collection and recycling initiatives, and community programmes.
At a separate meeting with leaders of Standard Chartered, Tuấn and the bank’s representatives discussed international capital markets, Vietnam’s prospects for mobilising funds internationally, sovereign credit ratings and measures to broaden and diversify the country’s international investor base.
Tuấn highlighted Standard Chartered’s longstanding cooperation with Vietnam, particularly its role in connecting international investors and supporting sovereign credit rating activities, while also sharing expertise in capital markets, green finance and sustainable finance.
Standard Chartered representatives expressed positive views on Vietnam’s macroeconomic foundations and long-term growth prospects, as well as the country’s efforts to improve the investment environment, enhance market transparency and deepen international financial integration.
The bank reaffirmed that Vietnam remains an important market and pledged to continue cooperation in banking, finance, capital markets, credit ratings, sustainable finance and international investor connectivity.
The two sides agreed to maintain close exchanges and advance specific areas of cooperation, with the aim of strengthening Vietnam’s links with international financial markets and mobilising additional resources for the country’s development.
