President Prabowo Receives Signed Chelsea Jersey During Meeting with Global Investors in Washington
Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto received a home jersey of English Premier League club Chelsea FC, signed by team captain Reece James, from Todd L. Boehly in Washington, D.C., on Friday (Feb. 20).
Boehly, Chief Executive Officer of Eldridge Industries, is widely known as the owner of Chelsea, the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, and Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers.
A photograph released by the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta showed President Prabowo posing with Boehly and Indonesia’s Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani while holding the jersey bearing James’ name and the number 24.
According to Roeslani, who also serves as Chief Executive Officer of sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia, the meeting took place on the sidelines of President Prabowo’s engagement with 12 global investors and business leaders in Washington.
“He (Boehly) pledged to bring Chelsea and the Lakers to Indonesia for cooperation programs and matches,” the minister said following the meeting.
During his visit, President Prabowo also held discussions with Armen Panossian, CEO of Oaktree Capital and owner of Inter Milan; Matt Harris of BlackRock Founding Partners; Martin Escobari, co-president and managing director of General Atlantic; and Albert Rabil, CEO of Kayne Anderson.
Other prominent executives joining the business forum included Neil Brown of KKR Global Institute; Michael Weinberg of Levine Leichtman Capital Partners; Luke Taylor of Stonepeak; Nabil Malik of Thrive Capital; and Jeffrey Perlman, CEO of Warburg Pincus.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya noted that several of the business leaders have been cooperating with Danantara Indonesia. He added that President Prabowo used the forum to reaffirm the government’s commitment to fostering a conducive investment climate and promoting mutually beneficial partnerships aimed at strengthening economic value chains and generating employment opportunities across the country.
