Emomali Rahmon

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, congratulated military personnel on the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of the country’s Armed Forces, according to a statement published on the president’s official website.

In his address, the head of state described the Armed Forces as one of the key pillars of modern Tajik statehood and a reliable guarantor of the nation’s independence and freedom.

Rahmon noted that members of the military, alongside law enforcement officers, are fulfilling their duties with dignity by protecting state borders, maintaining stability and public order, and safeguarding the security of citizens.

Reflecting on the tragic years of the imposed civil war in the early 1990s, the president recalled that the country’s leadership recognized the urgent necessity of establishing its own capable Armed Forces. Despite significant economic and financial challenges, the National Army was formed, and the first military parade was held on February 23, 1993.

He emphasized that Tajikistan’s Armed Forces were built and strengthened under extremely difficult conditions, gradually gaining combat experience and professionalism. Over the years, the army and other security structures have demonstrated loyalty to their oath, courage, and dedication in ensuring national security and protecting the population.

President Rahmon expressed sincere gratitude to military personnel and law enforcement officers for their devoted service. He stressed that the state and the nation would never forget the sacrifices of officers and soldiers who gave their lives to restore constitutional order, defend the country’s borders, and strengthen peace and stability.

Addressing current challenges, Rahmon pointed to the complex and tense situation in the region and globally, highlighting growing threats from terrorism, extremism, cybercrime, and other forms of transnational crime. In this context, he underscored the importance of further strengthening defense capabilities, enhancing personnel training, mastering modern technologies, and improving the professional skills of service members.

Concluding his message, the Tajik president expressed confidence that the Armed Forces would continue to carry out their mission with honor, ensuring national security and a peaceful life for the people. He also extended his wishes for good health, prosperity, and resilience to all service members and veterans.
