President Ilham Aliyev Inaugurates New Shamakhi European Lyceum under ‘New School for a Renewing Azerbaijan’ Program

Shamakhi, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on March 23 attended the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed building of the Shamakhi European Lyceum, developed by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation as part of ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s education sector.
During the visit, Assistant to the President Anar Alakbarov briefed the head of state on the modern facilities and conditions created at the lyceum.
The previous building of the institution, originally constructed in 1937 and later reconstructed in 1987, had become unsuitable for use over time. Following instructions from Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, a new state-of-the-art building was constructed to meet contemporary educational standards.
The newly inaugurated lyceum comprises seven blocks with three and four floors and has a capacity to accommodate up to 1,200 students, making it one of the largest educational institutions in the Shamakhi district.
Equipped with modern furniture and advanced teaching tools, the facility features more than 50 classrooms, specialized laboratories for physics, chemistry, and biology, as well as informatics and STEAM rooms. Additional facilities include rooms for military, medical, and vocational training, alongside a library, canteen, assembly hall, indoor sports hall, and an outdoor sports ground.
The project has been implemented under the “New School for a Renewing Azerbaijan” Program, reflecting the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s continued commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure and supporting the development of future generations in Azerbaijan.
