Dushanbe Grand Slam Opens with Vibrant Ceremony and Strong Message on Sports Development

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: The second day of the 2026 Dushanbe Grand Slam commenced with a traditional opening ceremony at Qasri Tennis, drawing large crowds as spectators filled the venue from early morning to witness the prestigious event.
The ceremony began with a formal welcome for distinguished guests of the federation, followed by a colorful cultural performance featuring elaborate costumes, graceful dances, and energetic music, reflecting Tajikistan’s rich heritage.
Addressing the gathering, President of the Tajikistan Judo Federation, Ismoil Mahmadzoir, подчеркнул the vital role of sports and physical education in shaping a healthy and resilient society. He highlighted that since independence, Emomali Rahmon has consistently prioritized the development of sports, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and training of professional athletes through comprehensive state programs.
Mahmadzoir expressed deep gratitude to President Rahmon for his continued support, noting that it has enabled Tajik athletes to actively compete in major international events, including Grand Prix, Grand Slams, and Asian and World Championships, proudly representing the nation on the global stage.
He further revealed that Tajik athletes have already secured 4 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals in international competitions this year. Over the past three years, the country’s athletes have achieved a total of 195 medals, including 44 gold, 51 silver, and 100 bronze—an accomplishment described as a source of immense national pride.
