Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Vladimir Putin Discuss Expanding Turkmen-Russian Strategic Partnership

Kazan, The Gulf Observer: During his visit to the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, to discuss the further strengthening of bilateral relations and strategic cooperation between the two countries.
During the conversation, both leaders exchanged warm greetings and highly praised the steadily developing partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia across multiple sectors. President Putin thanked Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for his personal contribution to enhancing friendly ties between the two nations and conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in turn, emphasized that expanding strategic cooperation with Russia remains one of the key priorities of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy. He also conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Russian leader.
The two sides discussed the continued expansion of multifaceted bilateral cooperation as well as collaboration within multilateral frameworks. Berdimuhamedov underlined the significance of international events scheduled during Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States and noted that President Putin is expected to participate in the CIS Council of Heads of State meeting planned for October 2026.
Trade and economic relations featured prominently in the discussions, alongside cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres. The leaders also stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration in science, education, healthcare, and culture.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty highlighted the growing educational partnership between the two countries, noting that many Turkmen students are currently pursuing higher education in Russian institutions. In this regard, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed several initiatives aimed at further enhancing bilateral cooperation in science and education.
At the conclusion of the telephone conversation, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Vladimir Putin exchanged wishes of good health, success, and prosperity for the peoples of both friendly nations.
