13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum Strengthens Azerbaijan-Serbia Dialogue as Presidents Aliyev and Vučić Meet in Baku

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić on May 17, where the two leaders discussed the expansion of bilateral cooperation and regional connectivity.

President Vučić congratulated the Azerbaijani head of state on Baku’s hosting of the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum, describing the international gathering as an important global event. President Aliyev expressed his appreciation for the congratulations.

During the meeting, the leaders fondly recalled President Aliyev’s official visit to Serbia in February this year and noted that practical steps had already been taken to implement the agreements and understandings reached during the trip.

Both presidents stressed the importance of reciprocal visits by heads of state and officials at various levels in further strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides praised the strong political relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia, while highlighting significant opportunities for broader cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, investments, and joint projects.

The leaders also underscored the importance of direct flights operated by Air Serbia on the Belgrade–Baku route, noting that the connection contributes to closer people-to-people contacts and supports the growth of tourism between the two countries.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
